In order to compile this guide we tried to synthesise the historical knowledge which has been collected in Hanover over the last decades. On the basis of the diverse results of personal investigations, eyewitness accounts and scientific research, it has become clear that even today the approach towards the history of National Socialist reign in the region of Hanover does not proceed without conflicts and that facts and circumstances are evaluated very differently. This is why we consider our work as an ‘inventory’.

We merely want to offer you some clues by including background information and several details of political events to enable you to contextualise the places presented historically and to comprehend them better in their interrelationships
